Joseph Massad, a faculty member of Columbia Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies, published an article praising the Oct 7 massacre by Hamas, using terms and words such as: “Astonishing”, “Jubilation and Awe”, “Awesome”, “Remarkable”, “Striking”.

The human life toll section of the article referred only to Gaza (on Oct 8, before IDF entering Gaza), and has no word on the over 1,200 civilians killed on Oct 7, many of them children, women, and elderly.
