SJP & JVP co-wrote a letter in support of the 10/7 Hamas attack on Israel.
SJP & JVP condoned and supported the attack in this letter.
“Yesterday was an unprecedented historic moment for the Palestinians of Gaza, who tore through the wall that has been suffocating them.”
“Palestinains launched a counter-offensive against their settler-colonial oppressors.”
SJP and JVP “condemned” Columbia/Barnard faculty who expressed sympathy to the Israeli victims of the 10/7 Hamas terror attack.
SJP and JVP invited students and faculty to sign this open letter.
SJP and JVP invited students and faculty to join them at their protest on October 12th at Columbia Low Steps.
SJP and JVP listed four demands from Columbia University:
Address Palestinian existence and apologize for support for Israel
Divest from companies profiting from Israel
Cancel the opening of the Tel Aviv Global Center
Cease the dual degree partnership with Tel Aviv University
SJP released and promoted their “Day of Resistance Tool Kit” document as a way to mass promote rhetoric, demonstrations and rallies across US college campuses. See photo.
They called for “dismantling Zionism”
They provided instructions for how to organize a protest
They used “river to the sea” language in their instructions of messaging
They encouraged rhetoric of “when people are occupied, resistance is justified.” And encouraged students to “normalize the resistance.”
They encouraged terrorism ideology by encouraging “by any means necessary” rhetoric.
They encouraged the dehumanization of the civilians who were brutally murdered on 10/7 by stating “Settlers are not ͉civilians͊ in the sense of international law̩ because they are military assets used to ensure continued control over stolen Palestinian land̮.”
This language may be considered Behavioral Violations (Harassment) of Columbia University’s Policy. See policy.
This may have violated Columbia University’s Code of Conduct, which states “Refrain from behavior that intentionally or recklessly endangers, threatens, or causes physical or emotional harm to any person, or that intentionally or recklessly causes reasonable apprehension of such harm.” See policy.
