At the rally, some participants poured something on the snow to make it look red. In addition to some Palestinian flags, there was also a Yemen flag (video).
Some of the chants:
“We don’t want two states. We want all of it” (video).
“There is no safe place. Death to the Zionist state” (video)
A counter-protester with an Israeli flag was being blocked by two of the rally organizers (note the red armbands). They block him from walking and try to silence him with sirens. (video)
As shown in cuapartheiddivest’s Instagram story, the rally participants marched to the front of Butler library chanting and making loud noises with drums. They chanted “while you’re learning, Rafah’s burning”. They blocked the entrance to Butler library. They were using a megaphone and also yelling “the more you try to silence us, the louder we will be.”
They succeeded in breaking the glass on the door to the library (picture1, picture2)
In an Instagram post after the rally, sjp.columbia posted a picture of piles of ‘red’ snow and wrote: “columbia bringing trucks to remove the snow we tinted with red kool-aid powder to draw awareness to genocide.” Under that post is a very concerning comment that reads “plant a bomb tbh”.
