2025-03-24 Correction for Professor Elizabeth Ananat
As per DJHC policy to correct erroneous information we are making the following corrections and modifications to the archive regarding professor Elizabeth Ananat.
Faculty, Staff and Outsiders at the Encampment
Professor Elizabeth Ananat advised that she was misidentified in the photos of a vest-wearing individual at the encampment on April 29, 2024.
We removed professor Elizabeth Ananat from the Faculty, Staff and Outsiders at the Encampment list based on her statements:
“I never interacted in any way with the encampment. Further, I was in fact out of state the day of April 29, 2024.”
“I confirm that it is not me in ANY of the photos you linked to in this email. I confirm that I never acted as a ‘guard’ or wore a construction vest.”
FSJP Faculty Strike
Professor Elizabeth Ananat appeared in a social media post by FSJP-CBT as a one of the faculty who participated in the FSJP instigated and promoted #CopsOffCampus strike. However, while professor Ananat did agree to stay off campus during the police presence, she was not aware that this action has been promoted by FSJP with whom she said she had no association and whom she does not support.
We are correcting the information that professor Ananat has been a member or a support of FSJP based on her statements:
“…you list me as a member of FSJP-CBT. I am not and have never been a member of that or any similar organization.”
“Some colleagues organized faculty to agree to stay off Columbia's campus while the police were present, and I agreed to do so as I had concerns about the police presence. I did not realize the action was associated with FSJP, which I do not and have not supported.”
However, the information that professor Ananat participated in the strike is factually accurate and will remain in the archive with the reference to this retraction page.
