This incident was reported to us on March 30, 2025 by a Barnard student via the the Incident Report Form.

At a group dinner surrounded by new peers in a public space a Barnard student repeatedly brought up controversial and hateful views regarding the Israel-Hamas War, disregarding the boundaries of those around her. She called the Columbia Board of Trustees “Jewish lobbyists,” attributing their “corruption” to their wealth and their presumed Jewish identities. Out of nowhere, she also said that she “loves Jews but has no respect/despises Zionists because they’ve been indoctrinated since birth to support evil.” When the name of the new Columbia president was announced (Claire Shipman), she also asked, “Is she Jewish? if so she’s going to be oppressive.”
